BICHOLIM: Opposition seem to be brewing against 'Mokashe' in Bicholim and surrounding areas especially Maulinguem as the villagers have now demanded to make them legal heir of the land they are living. Addressing a press conference the villagers of Maulingem under the banner of Maulingem Nagarik Kruti Samiti have demanded that "the land which is in the possession of the 'mokashe' be given back to us and the government should end the mokasdari and the rule of few who have been harassing the poor villagers since many years" Aapa Maulingkar a villager said. The president of newly formed Jan seva Pratisthan, an organisation fighting agaisnt Mokashe in Valpoi, Adv Ganpat Gaonkar who was also present for the press conference has also extended his support to the Maulingem villagers and has stated that their organization which has been formed with a unique intension of releasing such traditional lands from the possession of Mokashe thereby giving it back to the sons of the soil will always work for the cause of Maulingem villagers. The president of Mayem Nagarik Kruti Samiti, kashinath Mayekar extending his support to the cause has asked the Chief Minister to look into the matter and resolve the issue. Mauligem villagers comprising of Aapa Maulingkar, Laxman Gaonkar, Uttam Gaonkar, Madhu Usapkar, Ramnath Paryekar, Ramnath Maulignakar, Audumbar Mandrekar, Manohar Gaonkar, and others were present for the press conference.
