At regular intervals, the media announces the suspension of various personalities. In recent weeks, for example, Director of Mines & Geology Arvind Lolienkar, DySP Shamba Sawant and Registrar of Tiswadi Asha Kamat have been suspended. One does not, however, hear of whether they get unsuspended or reinstated or dismissed or charged or whatever. Do they continue to draw a salary, obviously without doing a stroke of work, during their period of suspension? Does anyone have statistics of the suspensions and eventual consequences thereof for the past 5 years?
