-- Samir Umarye BICHOLIM: The Bicholim police today arrested two person from Tivim in connection with possessing illegal arms and explosives at
Dodamarg checkpost. According to the available information the Bicholim Animal Rescue Squad (ARS) chief, Amrut Singh had received information that some persons will enter the state with some Arms, explosives and animal meat. On the tip off the ARS team along with the forest department laid a trap at Dodamarg checkpost. At around 5.40 am the team intersecpted a car (GA-02-C-8976) and on inspection they found a gun barrle and some powder. fThe two persons including Jitendra S Torsekar and Ovin Louis Fernendes both from Tivim were not able to give satisfactory answers and were not having any licence of the gun. The team later accompanied the accused to their houses and also recovered several other items used for hunting animals. The forest department official, Dhaku S Dhargalkar from Pernem Range later registered a complaint with the Bicholim police. The duo were arrested under section 3 rw 25 of Arms Act and Section 5 of Explosive Substance Act 1908 rw 34 IPC. The duo have been remanded to two days police custody. PSI, Girendre Naik and R A Shekh is further investigating the case under the guidance of PI, Ninad Devulkar.
