Dear Friends, Our Aamchi Panaji Team is in the process of finalizing plans for organising NoMoZo (Non Motorized Zone) in the heart of Panaji City. Every second Sunday of the month come rain or sunshine between 9am to 1.00pm citizens, friends and all who love Panaji will walk, cycle or simply chill out on 2 stretches of road to be used alternatively every month namely the Dayanand Bandodkar Marg( same route used for the Carnival parade) and the 18th June road (same route used for the Shigmo parade)
1. NoMoZo's objective is to transform key vehicular roads into a car-free, pollution free, safe, people/family friendly, vibrant place to walk, talk, cycle, move, exercise, play, picnic, explore and meet fellow citizens. 2. Areas identified are the 18th June Road and/or the DB Marg to be used alternatively. These will follow the same traffic diversions as followed for the Shigmo and the Carnival parades. 3. NoMoZo area is to be used by cyclists including children, toddlers on tricycles, children on push-scooters, joggers, walkers, singers, serenaders, hoola-hoopers, senior citizens and any other imaginable form of non motorized transportation. 4. Different informative 'walks' along the pavement will be conducted - Tree Walk, Heritage Walk, Bird Walk, etc 5. 6 activity zones - participants ( main to and fro roads), food vendors( organic, healthy, local, wholesome), entertainment( art, reading, quiz, puppet show), music( acoustic), picnic and information counter( along the promenade) 6. Voluntary participation with minimal or no use of complicated equipment. 7. Group of volunteers wearing jackets at key places to assist at the start and end the proceedings of the day. 8. Participants to be encouraged to come walking/ cycling to the zone from across the city carrying whatever they need and leave with no traces left behind! 9. Car pooling will be encouraged for people coming from outer limits of the city and designated parking spaces will be notified close to the NoMoZo. The tentative date is 13th May, Sunday between 9am to 1pm bet. Kala Academy Junction and Inox Junction.
