Taking the story at face value, despite my admiration for our new CM, this expenditure does seem inapprpriate if not illegal. I hope Goa gets an impartial Lokayukta, who is not chosen by the CM and therefore not beholden to the CM. This expenditure must be scrutinized by the new Lokayukta and appropriate action taken, if it is determined to be illegal. I certainly hope that selection process for a Lokayukta is not a one sided affair controlled by the ruling party. If it is, then the entire process will be a farce. The Lokayukta whose ambit should include the working of the CMs office, should be non-partisan and impartial. Let us see what happens in the days to come.
