*GOA WEATHER cloud cast on June 4, 2012*
The sky is overcast, with every shade of gray, to the north at around 5.30 pm on June 4, 2012, in Assagao. Goa's first good shower of Monsoon 2012 came later, around midnight. The comparison, for the cloud cast, could be in the earlier picture, around the same time. It was the eve of the traditional "Mirg" - the day the Catholics in Goa believe to be the start of the annual monsoon. On that day, the parishioners of St Anthony's Church in Siolim, and elsewhere in Goa, celebrated the first day of the "trezenas", thirteen nonvenas for the feast of St Anthony. In times of drought or undue delay in the approach of the rains, Goans generally turn to St Anthony for a miracle. Among the Hindu community in Goa, June 6 is considered in their version of "Mirg".
