COMMENTS:
Certainly, mining and economics has gone forward at a trot since the
Portuguese times when they dished out mining leases like hot cakes. They
(freedom fighters) drove out the Portuguese, erased/demolished their
remembrances from Mala- Fontainhas but preserved their mining leases and
enhanced them 100 folds. Why? Economics. Digambar Kamat was mining minister
(BJP) under Manohar Parrikar and continued under Congress. It was ECONOMICS.
Manohar Parrikar in opposition, no mining benefits and therefore whipped
himself against mining wanting to bring all illegal mining to a stop and
putting the illegal mining barons behind bars. Why? NO ECONOMICS. Goans
believed in these crocodile tears, brought back Manohar Parrikar. Now they
see that the crocodile tears have dried out. Now mining cannot be stopped or
vice versa Environment cannot be protected at the cost of ECONOMICS from
mining. It is suitcases full of ECONOMICS for the BJP (not the government).
It is simple. It does not take a bright IIT'an to understand that ECONOMICS
is everything. Now we hear a different tune of 'NO MORE POLITICS'. [Ujea
adim dumvor?? aka smoke before fire???] Goans very well know that when the
'CAT' has had it's fill, the finest of mice dangled before it's eyes cannot
make it move. The comprehensive new mining policy will never ever harm no
mining barons of the past but will, on the contrary, encourage new - budding
ones to step in with new leases.
To hell with Goa's Environment. Let us make merry while the sun shines on
the BJP with GOAN gone GA GA over IIT'an Manohar Parrikar. The avatar of
GOD Almighty Himself.
THEY SAY, WHERE THERE IS WILL THERE IS A WAY.
"Support for Environment should not be a source for ECONOMIC PROBLEMS?????"
How is this instead?
Stop all mining activity in Goa. If mining is destroying Goa's Environment;
people's lives and GOA'S wild-life. If those who are sustained by this
massive destruction of Goa are rank outsiders, then let it lie buried where
it is whether Manohar Parrikar's Government or the Central [Delhi]
Government likes it or not.
Let the Government of the day instead put into order the functioning of
every public utility which serves the people of Goa on day to day basis and
which is definitely not financed by the mining industry but by the
tax-payer's own money. Until such time mining should stop.
Goa Su-Raj Party will do exactly this. There are other avenues that can
generate economics that will sustain GOA. Goa does not need to sustain the
Fat Cats in Goa and in New Delhi too.
