Rajaryan Kuvelkar of Sharada Mandir, Panaji won Silver medal in the Under 12 Boys section. Goa State Champion Rohan Ahuja and talented Rishabh Naik were off colour in the rapid version but still managed to claim team Bronze behind Indonesia and Philippines in the rapid version. Rohan beat the top Vietnamese player Tran Minh Thang in the final round. Riya , who had won national Under 11 Girls title last year reached another important milestone of her growing International career by grabbing the Gold here. Riya had opted to play in the tougher Under 20 Girls section in the standard version earlier. The valuable experience she earned there was instrumental in brushing aside the opposition in rapid chess today. Riya remained unbeaten in the seven rounds she played. Rajaryan was at his best in the tournament where each player was given just 25 minutes for the entire game. Rajaryan could have gone for Gold when he was in advantageous position against eventual winner Catur Adi Sagita (Indonesia) in the last round. However the game ended in a draw with Catur defending accurately. Goa carbon Limited Brand Ambassador Bhakti Kulkarni will join the battle in the 13 ASEAN Blitz Chess Championship where a player will be given only 5 minutes to finish the entire game.
