There appears to be a lack of understanding of what is meant by a persecution
complex and a paranoid conspiracy theory - the two hackneyed internet campaign
tactics that are a staple of all fringe political activists everywhere. So let
me tell you what they are.

First, here is what they are not. Criticism of governments, politicians,
political parties, government servants, religions, religious leaders, political
activists, religious zealots, and public policies and programs do not
constitute either a persecution complex or a paranoid conspiracy. For example,
what Aires Rodrigues is doing is NOT propagation of either of these delusions.

What amounts to these forms of lunacy is gross generalization of the
subversive, extremist and/or criminal behavior of individuals or groups to the
country as a whole, to an entire community or to large collections of unrelated
mainstream institutions and professions. The worst examples of this unhinged
condition involve complete fabrication or wild extrapolation from a statement
or incident reported by the news media or on some website. Three common
examples of a persecution complex and paranoid conspiracy theory that are being
spread on the internet by crackpot religious and/or political activists are: 1.
India is persecuting Christians and/or Muslims. 2. The secular mainstream
Indian press is persecuting Hindus. 3. The medical establishment and the
multinational companies are suppressing Ayurvedic, Homeopathic and other
alternative cures.

Cheers,

Santosh
