After Bardez, Clubs from Salcete now rise up in protest against the Goa State Football Development Council(GSFDC). Footballers from all across seem to have been taken for a jolly big ride by the 'GSFDC' through this sham committee formation. While our sports bodies have always been controlled by factions and coteries in the past, people expect things to be different now because they see the glimmer of hope in the one man who is heading the state. Will our honourable Chief Minister intervene and listen to the voice of the masses or will he allow the wool to be pulled over his eyes much further by this grouping? One thing is certain. The 'GSFDC' must not be allowed to go the way of other sporting bodies, else we will lose all faith in the principles of democracy and transparency which have just been restored after seven years of colossal failure by the previous regime. Dr Rufino Monnteiro, the Chairman of the committtee, has committed a gross blunder and he must undo it. Why should the same members from the 'GFA' be repeated into the GSFDC? If that be the case, why have a different body in the first place? The 'GSFDC' must ideally have fresh eminent and hardworking people of good social standing, not a repeat of the same faces who are also elsewhere. The Goa State Football Development Council must be reconstituted. Dynamic fresh faces must be included in the committee and proper representation must be given to various parts of Goa. There can be no other alternative!
