Dear Frederick, Thanks for your comments on the above subject. The write-up was given to me in mid 1990s by someone who assured me it worked. Since I'm not a diabetic I can't verify its truth or otherwise. I found it among my papers while doing some monsoon cleaning!
As for its scientific aspect, I submit that that there is nothing more scientific than a hypothesis that can be tested by anyone and either verified and adopted or falsified and rejected. I await comments of diabetic readers which may decide to test it. Thanks Luis Dear Luis, First of all, I though of how you could be reduced to mince-meat via Goanet, because such knowledge does not fit into the world of "Science" as we know it. Secondly, I tried it out myself, and ended up laughing. (It's ticklish. Maybe when diabetes strikes home then it won't be so funny!) Lastly, I recall an episode while on scholarship in Deutschland, way back in 1990. We were in a bus on some 'familiarisation tour' and found ourselves being blocked by a military tank (don't know which nationality, but the "Occupying Forces" were still around then). For some reason the meant-to-be-blinking warning light atop the tank was not working. To our surprise, we saw a soldier lean up, stretch out his hand, and hit the pipe to which the light was fixed. "This is modern, German, high technology," said the late Peter Pruefert, whose understated sense of humour (and clipped Queen's English) somehow seemed more Brit than German to us. Thanks for sharing, all the same. FN
