I am reminded of Tippu, a three-legged stray whom we fed (Dad would give him choce left-overs and occasionally fresh meat) was bludgeoned to death about 40 years ago. This happened at BPT Quarters, Wadala Mumbai, India. He was one of us, essentially an equal with me—the older brother in the family. He had lost one of his front legs in an accident on the railway tracks, in the shunting yard; and was one of the fastest dogs I have ever seen, He often followed us home to the fourth floor (third floor in the US). ++++++++++++ venantius j pinto
