For some strange reason Goans do not know what they want. Divisions among Goans
are immense. At the first meeting of Special Status (were our amigo below was
not invited ) the discussion was between Concani and English.

The meeting was about Special Status yet there were differences at the start.
Thankfully these differences may now have been set aside and there was a second
fruitful association.

I have been on forums for several year Goacom, Goa World and now Goanet, there
are Goans who read a lot, write books use loads of euphemism in their posts, on
the whole an erudite lot, yet the pen does not strike. With the new found
'freedoms' away from the imperialists, our cities, society etc are in
dilapidated conditions. Even in Africa forced decolonization led to civil wars
and deaths to millions.  In advanced places like Hong Kong there are now daily
manifestations against the govt in regard to corruption, freedom of speech etc.
all coming after the hand over of 1997. (This is not an apology for
colonialism, but the truth of what is happening in post colonization period,
bulk of the wealth is shared by a few and the left overs are given away as
sweetners, in Goa it is the mines).

The problem with Goa after the new found 'freedom' is that we left our selves
fighting with each other, reading too many books, writing about Portuguese
history, getting indocrinated with ghanti ideology and the rest is what we see
today.

Ironically, in Goa and abroad, there are Goans who yearn for them to come
back to Goa. What is worse these people also call themselves civilized. The
would prefer to be running dog lackeys of these imperialists in preference
to ruling their own land on their own. Perish the thought that the
Portuguese or the Brits invaded Goa for the good of the local populace.

Awake Goans awake.
