Sir,
Subject: 'Anna Hazare' and his 'New Political Alternative'
It was a treat to go through most of the English Dailies commenting on the
subject of "Pros and Cons of Anna going for a New Political Alternative",
and, by and large, I have settled for the base line projected by the
Navhind Times' Edit "Anna's New Adventure", which ends like this:
" People do not choose their representative on moral lines. They choose them
for their social pride (caste), efficiency and delivery (on private causes),
protection and other values. And they do not mind if their representative
makes more money than he should "
However, I should like to think that the 'Editor' did have no 'gender malice'
when he said 'he' (as above) and is believed to be universal in his
understanding that people's representatives come in both genders, and, where
the female ones, especially, have been topping in this excellence of making
more money than men ever thought about .. Example: 'Mayavati-bhen' of UP.
From the very start, when Anna Hazare embarked on his nation-wide IAC
campaign, trying to put the Parliament in a 'Straight-Jacket' with his
passion 'the Jan-Lok Pal Bill', I had thought that he was committing
suicide, or, was trying to tie-up the Nation's Parliament to a dead tree
and flog it, like he did the drunks of his hometown ' RALEGAN SIDDHI '. He
should have had better sense to realize what the Editor of Navhind Times
has said as quoted above.
I do not, for a moment, fault Anna Hazare for wanting to establish a new
political alternative. In fact, in those early days, I had said, many a
times, that he should sit around the drawing board to draw up the new
political outfit that will have included the Jan Lok Pal Bill as well as all
other Bills that are required for this Nation to walk the straight talk, in
fact, a LEGO excellence, where every single piece fitted well into the
scheme of things and not fool himself to be considered a HERO, awash in
lime-light, a second Gandhi in the making to the milling crowds which have
ultimately done the vanishing act.
I am of the belief that there has to be a CLEAN SYSTEM OF GOVERNANCE. And
that, this Clean System of Governance must be built on 'Self-sacrifice',
'Dedication' and 'Commitment' to the State, Nation, and to NONE ELSE, in
such a manner that there are no loop-holes left for the self-motivated
governance wizards (of which this nation is full to the brim and would be
the envy of the world if it was in this export trade) to move in-and-out at
will, holding the Courts of Law and the People of this nation to ransom. And
when I say that there are no SAINTS on EARTH but only in Heaven, it
explains everything. Crooks are the foremost to be drawn towards politics
like the insects to light. And most often the political set-ups, aka
political parties, are provided by the CROOKS themselves which attract more
CROOKS, not by dozens but by tons. The only way to keep the crooks at bay,
or if enlisted, keep them on a leash, is the SYSTEM OF GOVERNANCE which
cannot be manipulated. ever. There is no guarantee that efforts will not
be made to subvert the SYSTEM. But like in the words of First Premier of
Singapore, Mr. Lee Kuan Hu - they will get frustrated and leave by
themselves through the back doors.
It would be another matter altogether if I was talking in air. Many people
do just that consuming a lot of newsprint which has gone, and will go, in
the waist baskets or to the local Bajjia wallas for food wraps. No, I have
gone one step ahead and helped to set-up a SYSTEM OF GOVERNANCE for this
small state of GOA that not even wizards like 'CHARLES SOBHRAJs' can seek
to manipulate and get away with, a SYSTEM that has been designed and
tailor-made for GOA .in the name and style of GOA SU-RAJ PARTY, where those
who would want to promote their own causes at the cost of state are extended
the first invitations to come in and to try their luck.
Anna Hazare and his illustrious TEAM should endeavour to put in place such a
SIMPLE and UNCOMPLICATED system of governance so that even the most
strictest of JAN LOK PAL BILLS will be made redundant and unnecessary.
The guiding principle of 'SPARE THE ROD AND SPOIL THE CHILD' must be the
essence of such an exercise which is most often thought and/or found to be
UNDEMOCRATIC.
And, this will be the one and only test to find out how many people in
this nation are non-corrupt and non-corruptible.
