To continue what Frederick posted about the above. I bought a Bengali recipe book somewhere in the early eighties called Bangla Rana - The Art of Bengali Cooking by Minakshie Dasgupta. There was a chapter on Anglo Indian Recipes. There were certain dishes introduced into the Bengali cusisine by the Anglo Indian community of Calcutta, eg. Hilsa Fish Fry, Fish Moulee, Mutton Cutlet Curry, Poached Egg in Tomato Curry.
