A big up for Siona for trying. It was not going to be an easy fight, the east
europeans have a large history of sports, Siona gave it all. I hope our Goan
has sparked others overseas youngsters to take up sports seriously. Most of our
overseas (I am not talking of the gulf, where they organize football leagues)
brethern live in comfort zones. They are unheard of in sports, arts, music or
even academics. Recently there was a special status meet in Toronto, most of
the audience did not have an ounce of knowledge what special status meant. Even
the current Save Goa campaign (mining issues) by dona Carmen must be unheard
off. Most of these chaps come together for the Goa day thingy. You ask them
what is the meaning of Goa day, they will say 'oh we come to eat sarapatel and
to twinkle'. Then we have this Great Goan Primeira Liga. Which is a division of
people. In London I believe that there is now a division of Swindon Town and
QPR. While living in
Bracknell for a few years, I used to visit the Catholic church at weekends. A
few of our chappies would also go to church, I would say hello, como esta,
coshoh ahai, but there was no zabh.
Oslem noxib goencarachem.
