Don't know if I am happy or sad on reading that Vasco Sports Club has been renamed NRB Vasco. What I know is that the Bandekars, the Parkhots and the Lima Leitao were the founders and leaders of the club but I never imagined they would come together again to give this hallowed football game a new name.They provided the financial muscles to the club, one of the blue ribands of Indian football. Having been closely associated with some of its leading members and also been a keen fan and follower of the club over the years, I feel that the new name does not sound as inviting as its original. Then the old Vasco Sports Club is not the same, having lost lot of its magic and glamour. That even Dempo is now in consultation with Sukh Rukh Khan for the latter to invest in the sports club is surprising. What next, the Salgoankars asking the Ambanis to join in, though a distinct possibility since Dattaraj's wife, Dipti, is daughter of Ambanis. A sea change is going on in Goa's football.
