The avocado seems to grow pretty well in Goa without any particular care. I have two of the plants in my garden, which began yielding last year but did not flower this year. I have two neighbours Manuel Godinho and David Dias both of whom have trees in full yield this year. If you come to Margao you could just visit the clinic of Dr.Ricardo Telles along Abade Faria Road where you will find the tree in full fruit. However, it appears that the trees come as male, female or a combination of both. The former two will not fruit if grown singly or two of the same type. The same problem is noticed with nutmegs. Hence, the best option is to go for a graft. Radharao F.Gracias
