Ancestral Goa is conceptualised as a focal point for the preservation of the
inherent “Culture, ethnic traditionalism and the colonial adaptation” that
makes “Goa” a truly  unique state.  “Ancestral Goa” a one of its kind and the
first to evolve in its day,  celebrates World Goa Day, at 4 p.m.

The open-air, lifestyle and life-size Museum plays host to the event entitled
“A Walk  to Remember…”

“Joao & Katarina” (Romeo e Julieta) performed by young aspiring actors will
kick off  the event. This will be followed up, by the tale of the creation of
Goa in Konkani. As the visitors move around the village, the village will come
“Alive” with artisans creating  the various arts and crafts that were a part of
the rural social “networking”!

En route to, “Natural Harmony,” - India’s longest laterite sculpture, of Sant
Mirabai,  which entered the third book of records, visitors passing through
the tunnel will see  posters adorning the cavern walls. This exhibition of
Posters are designed by the creative team at, “Art Ads”, Margao and are
illustrated by Karishma Alvares. As an initiative, the “Big Foot Trust,”
aspires to help reduce the growing problem of “Garbage”, by offering  the
public, simple and effective  solutions. These posters highlight a
tongue-in-cheek alternative to  the constant public inaction and endless but
futile grumbling.

A series of “Blitz- Kreig” sustainers of the posters inserted in the
newspapers, as an awareness drive, have encouragingly taken root in positive
action.

Ending their sojourn at the sculpture of Sant Mirabai, the guests will pay
tribute to the sculpture in an unusual manner. The taste buds will then be
treated with delicious Goan eats.

“World Goa Day,” was first celebrated in the year 2000, to commemorate
the recognition  of Konkani as one of the official languages of India. WGD is
intended as a day for Goans worldwide, to focus on and take pride in their
identity, through culture, language, traditions, music, cuisine, etc.  Its
objective was to unite Goans all over the world in a day of common celebration.
WGD
is being promoted globally since 2000 by Rene Barreto, a resident of the UK.
He strongly insists on the need to sustain the legacy of our Goan language,
heritage and culture, for the future generations of Goans. Officially WGD is
celebrated on the 20th of August, but for practical reasons, the occasion is
celebrated on or around this date.

Warm Regards
