Well well, Rico,
You seem to hv played a sentimental BPL chord in me.
Yes. I am a proud owner of a BPL fridge.
I bought one for my brand new house in 1993. Not only the fridge, but every
thing means everything was new.
Till today, some 19 years on, my BPL fridge is working just fine and the
freezer compartment is really frost free till date.
Only once, did I have to change the thermostate which costs round Rs/150/-
and which I got for Rs. 60/-, with inhouse installation.
Today my home minister is in DUBAI (just about arriving there) for a week.
Can you imagin how much the poor fella is loaded?
There is not a millimeter of space inside.
Cheers to BPL ( and I don't mean Below Poverty Line)

Subject: [Goanet] BPL fridges
Someone said today that the BPL fridges in India are difficult to
maintain because "the company has closed down". And that once the
ducts of the machines start playing up, it is tough to keep them in
good shape -- since even the parts are available. Is this true? Can
someone who knows confirm?
Also, which refrigerator bands are worth buying now, assuming you're
in India? Whirlpool? Samsung? Something else? A paisa for your
thoughts... FN
