My dear FN,

I do not have the answers to the following questions which are implied in your
post:

1: what time frame does the term 'before 1961' include?
2: what time frame does the term 'after 1961' include?
3: did I use 1961 as the reference point.
4: which "tens of thousands" are we referring to?
5: what does the term "leaving" include?
6: would leaving Panjim and going to (say) Dona Paula ....be considered
"leaving Panjim"?

Perhaps, you will clarify.

Personally speaking, I have NO idea what may have got into FN's much touted
Penang lungi, but may I point out that all I did in my post was state that the
city I knew as a student was clean and lovely, and that the folks I met and
interacted with, were gracious people.

Why they may have left (that is, if they have) I have no idea. People move for
all kinds of reasons. Should it be my business to be nosey about it?

Does FN wish to suggest that he has a different personal recollection of Panjim
circa (say) 1966-1971 and the folks I interacted with than I have? IF so, could
I politely suggest that he places that on the record, instead of just being ....

My belief is that (based on recent experience) FN's lungi trembles sufficiently
to caution him NOT to take on Rajan Parrikar. So, he considers using someone
else for purposes of "proxy".

But, I could be wrong.

best

Let me finish my sandwich ......and get back to work.

Pardon any Typos. This IPad does some curious auto- corrections
