The Sol villa's Thursday Night Jazz on the 30th of August, delivered yet
another outstanding show with the audience actually having to hang right
outside and around the venue that was filled far beyond capacity. Not
surprisingly, since Goa's guitar hero Elvis Lobo was billed to jam with the
house band Jazz Junction featuring Yvonne Gonsalves on vocals, Darryl Rodrigues
on keyboards, Colin D'Cruz on bass and Bosco D'Souza on drums. A tightly knit
unit that offers a whole lot of local as well as international singers and
soloists a great platform to strut their stuff. The band opened with Elvis
coaxing some amazing riffs, seemingly effortlessly out of his guitar in an ad
lib solo that gave the audience a feel of what was in store for them for the
rest of the evening. From then on it was simply one smoking track into the next
with Elvis getting onto 'the zone' and taking the band and the whole house
along with him. The crowd simply couldn't get enough of
guitar that night and Jazz Junction went on to perform way beyond the usual
sign off time.
