Smoking Chutney lived up to it's name at the Sol's sizzling Thursday Night Jazz
session on the 6h of September. Singer/harp player Pratish Motwane was the
special guest flown in from Mumbai to spice up an already cooking Smoking
Chutney, featuring Shane Ballentine on guitar, Sancho Menezes on keyboards,
Colin D'Cruz on bass and Bosco D'Souza on drums. The crowd turnout was
fantastic as usual and included quite a few regular Thursday Night Jazzers. A
smokin' jazz-rock instrumental set the stage for front man Pratish to take
control of both the band and the crowd and he did it with flair. A bluesman to
the core, Pratish took the blues struck crowd on a journey through various
genres of blues through Chicago, Delta, New Orleans, Boogie Woogie and not
surprisingly, since he spent fourteen years in America performing with some
great blues bands there, including a stint with blues legend Buddy Guy. Sol's
Thursday Night Jazz sessions has become 'the' live music
 event in Goa.
