At the outset, I would like to state that I teach at the Chowgule College in Margao, and I do not have any intention of quitting my job. Chowgules have been operating their mines since 1950s, and it is only recently the allegations about illegality have come about. But I will wait for a final decision by the court on the subject.
The main point in this message is the action by Wendell. I do believe that he must extend his stand, and boycott the mine owners, and anyone to do with the mining industry in all respects. For example, he must not socialise with any of the people involved in the industry, and also perhaps request them not to wear the clothes he has designed. After all, they are spending the money to buy his products from what he considers to be ill-gotten gain. Best regards, U. G. Barad.
