I welcome the Supreme Court ruling banning all mining operations and also on the transportation of iron ore in Goa. And for this I thank Claude Alvares, the Goa Foundation and others for their tireless/selfless struggle for the benefit of Goa/Goans; today and for the future. For years the few priviliged mining families/individuals have been savagely looting Goa's resources and with it destroying the environment. They paid pittance to the common man involved in this industry and then used these people as hostages, so as to continue their atrocities in Goa. The people affected by mining should demand these few mining families/individuals return the loot, instead of demanding a resumption in illegal mining activities.
