Goans are born musicians. Goan musicians have shown what they are all over the
world. I do not have the names of goans who are great musicians but I do
remember some of them. Chris Perry, Frank Fernand, Sebastian de Souza, etc have
spent their life time in film world giving music. In Goa we have Remo, Emilan
etc. who are great musicians. But sad to say many of our tiatrs have cants that
is songs sung during the play and also the solo songs sung on tunes from either
hindi film songs or some English songs . Few tiatrist have original music in
their tiatrs. I remember Fr.Freddy 's Niz mog. It had original music from
another priest I think One fr.anthony cotta. I hope I am right. Later on a
Cassette was also made on the songs. Lovely music and lovely singers. I think
Mike Mehta's grant Road had music by Chris Perry. Every one wants easy song
tunes from some English songs or film music because our actors do not want to
learn something different. We are still using outdated methods on the stage. I
often wonder when our tiatrs will have a nice stage settings. One tiatr of
Prince Jacob that was adapted from Marathi drama had different stage patterns
and of all the Prince Jacob's tiatr I liked this one the best. I can't remember
the name of the tiatr. Today we should have tiatrs like Marathi dramas. All
actors should have mikes on their body. They should sit, sleep, and act and
people must be able to follow. In our konkani tiatrs one finds different props
on the stage but one finds actors all the time coming in front and kissing the
mike at all times.
