NEGATIVISM 24x7
At first sight it appears to be all negativism on India’s TV screens. And it
does remain unchanged till the end. It also seems that negativism is a must to
keep these channels floating in air 24x7, propped up by a torrent of repetitive
ads, and a sprinkling of Bollywood blabber for a garnish.
Unless an earth-shattering scam occurs at the close of the week, sombre Sundays
send us wondering if India will fall to pieces in the weeks to follow. But
fortunately it doesn’t, despite all negativism that breaks the barriers of
human sensitivities.
In fact, so much happens behind those very screens that portray a doomsday
scenario. Recently, India blasted its first unmanned ‘Chandrayaan 1’ to the
moon and successfully test fired a series of ‘Agni’ ballistic missiles, all of
them of India’s own genius. What a wonder, none of them crossed the airwaves
these TV channels operate on!
