Should mining continue at the cost of Environment?
Legal and illegal are two different, simple words but our successive
governments and so called law authorities miserably failed to understand the
simple difference. Mining related M.L.A’s and mining lovers wants legal mining
to continue, that clearly confirms there was something called as illegal mining
too was going on. On what grounds illegal mining was allowed and who allowed
the same? If there has been a scam worth 35000 crores of rupees, what measures
the concerned authorities has taken or will take to recover this huge amount of
money? Why till date no arrests are been made against the culprits for
miserably raping the environment repeatedly?
In the span of five years the number of trucks related to mining increased like
anything? On what grounds the number increased and why the same was allowed?
The general public could not use the roads freely in the mining related areas
and innocent lives were lost too for no faults of theirs. There is something
what is called as limit but in Goa with regard to mining the limit is well
crossed and this shows our so called law miserably failed with regard to
mining. If mining was controlled at the right time, this present ban on mining,
Goa would have not witnessed. If there were no activists like Claude Alvares,
Ramesh Gawas etc.looks like all our hills would have been disappeared by now.
I do understand that there are mining dependent people, there exist huge number
of trucks still on bank loans but does it worth killing the nature to satisfy
our needs? Our natural green hills are turned in red  flat surfaces, springs
are been lost, Locals cannot breathe fresh air, fertile fields destroyed and
the list goes on. Mine owners, politicians and their pimps turned rich at the
cost of our environment and the niz locals lost everything natural they had.
If really mining related people are suffering legally due to the present
closure of entire mining, why the government doesn’t recover 35000 crores of
rupees and compensate the real sufferers with the same? If revenue for the
government is generated through this so called destructive mining, is this
revenue worth at the cost of environment? If mining continues at the same rate
as it was, it will be an open invitation for total destruction.
No decent citizen of this state is against planned mining but it cannot be at
the cost of locals and our mother nature. If some mining related people are
threatening of committing suicides if mining not continued, is it worth killing
the entire nature to avoid few suicides. The government should be capable
enough to avoid such threatened suicides?
Last but not the least, planned legal mining can be continued provided it will
not kill out beloved Goa.Why till date the authorities failed to arrest the
culprits who attempted a brutal murder on Goa with regard to mining.
