Congratulations to Team Herald on its special report 'The Great Goan Land
Grab' (Herald Insight September 7, 2012). It is heart rending to see that,
despite Goa having an area of less than 300 square Kilometers that can be
utilized for settlement purposes, after excluding the land occupied by
forest, agriculture and waterways, thousands of acres have already been
grabbed by the Navy, Army and other Central Government Agencies.
The various governments in Goa seem to have been pawns in the hands of the
bureaucrats working in Goa who think nothing of such plunder of this scarce
Goan resource, especially if, under the guise of 'national security' great
swaths of Goan land is sought for the purpose. There has been no
verification by the Goa Government and by these bureaucrats to ascertain
whether the land has been utilized for the purpose for which it was
acquired, and not as holiday homes which has happened in many cases. Goa
has gained nothing from this occupation. It is time that the Goa Government
refuses to give any further land to any of the agencies whose files are
being processed or are under consideration.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will do well to refuse the request of the
CISF for 85 acres of land even though it was accepted by the previous
Government. If it is wrong it has to be rejected. This has to be done if he
wishes that Goans should believe his pronouncements that he is in favour of
Special Status for Goa, one of the aims of which is to protect its scarce
resources. Otherwise there may be nothing left to protect. It is time to
stop the Union of India from treating Goa as a colony that it can exploit at
will.
COMMENTS:
We Goans are under the wrong impression that the Union of India is treating
Goa as a colony. It has, for the past 50 years and is continuing to finish
it off completely. Otherwise, Goa would have gotten what Nehru had promised
Goa before and after the KRISHNA MENON sponsored INVASION of Goa, not
heeding to Nehru's wishes. This has made Nehru an accomplice of Krishna
Menon, a cuckolded accomplice too.
Whatever it may be , the hope for GOA has been born twelve years ago and is
getting stronger in its feet to run over these enemies of Goans and Goa,
initially commandeered for Krishna Menon by G. K. Handoo, his special
security chief, who unleashed his spite against GOANS in the days
immediately following the illegal invasion of GOA and since then by his
followers. The Goa Su-Raj Party will not only have the Navy vacate Goa
because Goa does not need the protection that is made out to be, followed
by the Army to curtail its possessions in Goa which will be under specific
review and restricted. If Goans think that any of the National parties in
Goa will do this for Goa, then they must not know what bought stooges are
all about.

Elections' shall be the prerogative of State Registered Political Parties
only. Even then, and in the absence of such a ruling by the Election
Commission of India, GSRP would want GOANS who are ERUDITE,
knowledgeable about India and its problems, as well as World affairs,
'STATESMEN/WOMEN' , to contest on it's 'TICKET' in the coming 2014
Parliamentary Elections. Let GOA endeavour to send two real Parliamentarians
to the House of the People in New Delhi for once.
