Did you hear that? The Republicans are "shocked" to see their man loose -  and
I mean loose real big!

But why remain so shocked? After all, wasn't this what was expected?

While they are licking their wounds, I'd like to say that the Republican party
is blinded to what is happening in America. Can't they see that the nation is
transforming from being "mostly White" to "mostly Colored"? In addition, newer
generation of Americans believe in a more "inclusive" society, rather than
practicing exclusions.

Here are some items Republicans are big on and which will ultimately see them
marginalized in the future:
1. Reject any comprehensive immigration policy - This is big for Latinos who
are gaining about 2 percentage points in population growth, every 4 years.

2. Encourage pay discrimination towards women. This is illegal, but the ladies
will still tell you that they make less money than their male counterparts and
Republicans aren't interested in listening to this.

3. Reject a woman's choice on a deeply personal matter, such as carrying a
pregnancy to term or not.

4. Discourage gays and lesbians and their right to marriage

5. Encourage off-shoring of American jobs

6. Reject fair taxation (This item was big for me - even though I will end up
paying more in taxes under Obama than Romney).

7. Repeal of Obama health care law (This is another biggie for me).

8. Courting of Evangelicals - I can't stand this even though I am a Christian

You can add many more.

They tried to portray President Obama, as somehow responsible for the deep
economic hole the US is in. I reject that argument. Instead, I'd say, despite
the catastrophic economic situation Obama inherited, he did a pretty darn good
job! He saved the automobile industry, the banking industry and everything in
between. A final nail in the coffin was, Romney's rejection of the automobile
industry bailout - that did him in.

Given this loss, if Republicans aren't willing to come to the negotiating
table, my advise to Obama would be to let the country slide into the fiscal
cliff. Let the taxes rise back to Clinton levels - and let the spending cuts
kick in. Bitter pill, sometimes, can be the best
medicine.

In the meantime, now that Mervyn's horse lost, I'd advise him to bet on real
productive investments. Gold isn't a productive investment.
