Hello Domnic: Sorry, I was not a Goanetter then, but glad to learn that you appreciated Ramakant's number in question. He was truly a great artiste - his compositions, style of singing and above all his voice which, unfortunately began fading away in the latter part of his interrupted career. Even earlier on at the height of his singing days, he was denied the position he deserved among tiatrists of those times. As I knew him very closely, I suspected that it was mainly due him being a Hindu, although more educated and cultured than any of this peers. But those who knew him well, will have certainly admired his love for the Catholic faith which reflected in most of his compositions. It's a pity that we cannot see him delivering any of this numbers on YouTube. Thanks, Domnic, for posting the lyrics once again. I shall have a printout for keeps. Bennet

Moi-mogan, Domnic Fernandes Anjuna, Goa Mob: 8805237604/9420979201 Konkani ulloi Konkani About two decades ago, Ramakant Kamat (stage name: Kamat de Assolna) sang and recorded an inspiring number: “Konkani ulloi Konkani – Konkani buroi Konkani”. He also lambasted the then Politicians for harbouring outsiders in govt. jobs at the expense of our own Goan hands. He was so incensed by their irresponsible behaviour that he even ventured to address them as ‘RÉDDÉ’ (a derogatory expression in Konkani). Judging by the current state of affairs, what Kamat forewarned some twenty odd years ago is fast becoming a reality in Goa today. Bennet Paes
