Is Parrikar fooling people of Goa?
Yesterday, CM Manohar Parrikar, also Chairman of ESG, justified spending 1.23 crore for erecting special hangar (only to be used on 2 days i.e. about 4+4 hours in all). Parrikar said “Intention to have this venue is to facilitate more delegates and local people during the inaugural and closing ceremonies of iffi” (Toi dtd 19/11/12) Today, at ESG offices, it gave the true picture of what he means ESG office says 'Passes are meant for VIPs only' So, who are these VIPs Mr. Parrikar? All these years, it managed with about 900 VIPs, where the remaining 2000 VIPs come from now? What one must do to be a VIP? Fill in BJP party membership forms? Next we went to General Manger office, who was missing at 3pm. Again visited at 5pm, This time there was some one named ‘Tulshidas’? who is incharge of issuing passes. He says, all passes gone, some MLAs took upto 500 each. At one time he also said his hands are tied as nothing can be done without the instructions from his higher-ups... I tell you, to me, the whole ‘Hangar’ thing smelling like a scam. Actual cost of it can go well beyond 1.5 crores. 10% cut on it can be a lot of money. More crowd or VIPs or locals could mean more security, all these things adds up. Entire promenade give deserted look – No Spiderman, no Titanic, no Dinosaur.. So why this expensive hangar? and that too at our cost?
