ISRAELI – PALESTINIAN PROBLEM

More than sixty years passed, wars fought in between, UN resolutions passed and
the so called ‘honest broker’, the U.S., toyed with both Israelis and
Palestinians for a peaceful settlement of their disputed borders, but the
problem still persists.

If the age-old saying: “what cannot be cured must be endured” could be
applied to the Israeli-Palestinian problem, the best possible solution could be
for both, Israel and Palestine to merge as one single entity. This would  not
only entail the desired goal of living side by side in peace, but the knotty
problems of the return of refugees from either side, and Jerusalem as the
rightful capital of all – (Jews, Christians and Moslems) will be solved in the
bargain, to the  satisfaction of all the  parties concerned. And most of all,
the Israeli nightmare of a counter nuclear deterrent by Iran will no longer be
the cause of their sleepless nights.

At first thought, this may sound highly implausible but, if the third largest
Moslem population of any country in the world can live under one flag along
with India’s overwhelming  Hindu compatriots, it could be even more tolerable
for the Jews to exist side by side with their Muslim cousins, both being of
Abrahamic progeny and monotheistic  beliefs. It will truly be a feat that could
deal terrorism its biggest blow ever.
