Dear Goanet readers,

I would like to know what is the origin of the architectural designs that give
a special look to our ancestral Goan homes. Are these designs from the colonial
rule of the Portuguese or a mix of Spanish/English and Portuguese.

I have not seen similar large so called Goan ' Portuguese houses ' in
Portugal, with Balcao etc.

Appreciate if Goanet readers could give their views and insights into the
origin of these designs.

Thank you very much.
