At the foot of an excellently written post, Adv.Radharao F.Gracias wrote: SPECIAL STATUS: Goa is a unique case, where those born prior to December 19, 1961 and their descendants are eligible to be Portuguese nationals. In view of the special circumstances under which Goa became part of India, the Citizenship Order 1962 ought to be amended, to enable Goans to enjoy the benefits available to them, under Article I(1)(a) or (c) of the Portuguese Nationality Law along with the benefits under Article 5 of the Constitution of India.
That would be a special status indeed. COMMENT: Once again I would like to commend Adv Gracias for posting his thoughts on GN. I'd submit that Adv. Gracias' suggestion would be the ideal "settlement" for the basic unfairness contained in the 1962 order and also its application; unfairness which I have alluded to in prior posts on the matter i.e. one which was exemplified in the Fr. Chico Monteiro case.
