Soon you may get your annual rent for 9 months only (out of 11). Parrikar’s another funny and cunning trick of robbing Peter to pay Paul.. You will have to shell out your one month’s rent to Govt. as fees You will soon realised that you were far more better of paying old house tax on your property. i.e. you could be paying 10-40 times more than the house tax you paid over the years. e.g. if you paid House Tax say Rs.500 on your property (house, flat, appt,shop,office etc), you could now end up paying 5,000 to 20,000 depending upon the monthly rent of your property as per 11 month lease agreement etc Notes: 1.Estate Agents or Rental agencies also take your one month’s rent as commission 2. If the property is your only dwelling place (either occupied or vacant) you pay Re.1 as house tax (abolition of House Tax in rural areas was announced during last elections by BJP to gain votes) 3. Those properties located in City or municipal areas may continue paying their house tax at prevailing rates e.g. A friend of mine pays about 7,000 on his brand new two bed flat at Caranzalem (Gera) which comes under Panjim CCP 4. Govt has already notified these changes / amendments in a notification dtd 16.1.13 and had 15 days for suggestion and objections if any from public, last date being 31.1.13. Contact: Director Shri.
