PRESS NOTE The Government of India had delegated powers to FRRO Goa for granting / issuing OCI card status to eligible foreign citizens of Indian origin residing within the jurisdiction of Goa w.e.f. 01/12/2012.
However, for various reasons, including the need to provide office premises, basic infrastructure and trained manpower support, the Bureau of Immigration has not been able to start the process of accepting the OCI applications in Goa so far. Every effort is being made to put in place these facilities by April 2013. In the meantime, the Government of India has decided that FRRO Mumbai will accept and process OCI applications of persons coming under the jurisdiction of FRRO Goa until further orders. Any foreign citizen of Indian origin based in Goa who intend to apply for OCI Card status and cannot wait for the facility to commence in Goa, is therefore advised to submit the application to FRRO Mumbai for disposal.
