To Goanet - I didn't go to the Carnival parade in Panjim today. Instead I went for a spin around the city later and stopped by the Panjim jardim. There was a music show in progress ringed by food stalls etc. The atmosphere was marvellous. Elegant and deeply civilized. None of balle balle Indian hooliganism. No sign of the paan-spit bhaiyya brigade. It was mostly a Goan crowd and the few bhaile were well behaved. For the first time in several years Panjim exuded a good vibe. It should have occurred to everyone present that nowhere else in India could this kind of evening be possible. We Goans must do everything to keep it that way.
