Eugene Correia's article on the above subject covers a few salient points which
are relevant in the Matter of the survival of the Church in the modern era.
I however have to disagree that Pope Benedict XVl that he supported the
modernization of the Church. Promoting the internet to spread the message of
goodwill does not in of itself prove modernization if the message broadcasted
is not modern in its outlook. I do agree that the teachings of the church are
sacrosanct, but in other fields, there could have been more openness and
tolerance. I would for instance bring up the subject of Celibacy of Priests.
Here we have a contradiction where we allow Priests who have converted from
Anglican and other sects to continue in the priesthood. We also have Eastern
rights priests who are allowed to marry . They cannot however ascend to the
rank of Bishop. Why not? Does marriage make him a lesser priest? Let us not
forget that Saint Peter and the hierarchy of the Church until the rule of
celibacy was introduced were married men. Another issue is the matter of
homosectualism. Christ wanted an all inclusive church to reflect inclusion of
all god's children. Why then should we chastise and wilily this section of the
Catholic populace? More tollerance and acceptance is definitely the way forward.

The Holy Ghost is supposed to be the principal who will through the Cardinals
chose the new Pope. Why then do I see posters of a cardinal being displayed in
St peter's Square (Like a Political campaign) raising the premise that the
church is yet another political institution. Where is the sanctity of the
Conclave if there are Political stile posters giving the air of a political
stile campaign?
