Following protests from various quarters and in view of the likely conflict of interest involved, the Sports Authority of Goa, vide its memorandum dated 23rd April 2013, has withdrawn the 'No Objection' granted to its chess Coach Mr. Sanjay Kavlekar for contesting the post of Secretary of Goa Chess Association for the elections scheduled in April 2013, for the term 2013-17. The 'NOC' has been revoked following a complaint filed by Sandeep Heble, a member of Tiswadi Taluka Chess Association, wherein he had cited the potential conflict of interest likely to be caused in case Mr. Kavlekar was elected to hold such an important post in the association.
Complaints against Mr. Kavlekar and 2 other SAG Coaches Avinash Malvankar and Swapnil Hoble, who are holding Executive committee posts in Bardez Taluka Chess Association and Mormugao Taluka Chess Association, have also been filed by few other parents of chess players. The SAG has also been urged to take appropriate action against Mr Malvankar and Mr Hoble for occupying such posts in the sports bodies without obtaining the requisite prior sanctions as is mandatory under the CCS Service Conduct rules.
