Dead Electric meters. The meter readers constantly put the reminder note that the meter is not functioning. The Electricity Department just sleeps over the noting’s. The consumers are hard put to unnecessary trouble of raised charges calculated on average consumption, rather than actual consumption of units The stock answer that that there are no spare meters or replacement for wires is a lame duck excuse and for which the consumer should not be held responsible. There is also no indication as to when the same will be available with the department. There are also no authorise dealers from whom the meters could be purchased with faith and reliability, costing Rs 4000plus. Will the new meters be calibrated by the Department.
