-- Samir Umarye BICHOLIM: Unknown culprits decamped with valuables worth seven lakh from a flat owned by dentist Dr Prakash Desai, a resident of Desaiwada, Sankhali, on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. The stolen items include gold and silver items and cash amounting to 5.35 lakh.
Bicholim police said the thieves took advantage of the flat being closed with the owner away for two days. Agitated villagers demanded that the patrolling team intensify its night patrolling operations. Police said Desai runs his dispensary at Gokulwadi, Sankhali. The fact came to light when the doctor returned home on Monday morning. Bicholim PI Ninad Deulkar is conducting the investigation.
