Thank you Joe UK for bringing up this societal issue. Very true. It is
usually alcohol, drugs and
sex. I see youngsters who appear to be 14 or 15 year olds, congregate in
secluded areas at all times of the day or night. Many of them have backpacks
as though they have just come from school or college. Instead of books, there
is alcohol in those backpacks. Often there are young girls sitting behind on
the scooter or motorcycle. Invariably the young girls have covered their hair
and faces with scarves or dupattas, almost as though they are in purdah, so
that they cannot be
recognized. So it is obvious that they know that they are doing something wrong.

If one goes by the site where these kids congregate,
after they have left, you will find all kinds of beer bottles, whisky bottles,
soda bottles, water bottles,
discarded cigarette packets, chips packets. They have the money to buy all
this booze, and their
parents give them scooters etc., assuming that they are going to school or
college. Parents are too
busy working very hard to make a living. Parents feel guilty about not having
enough time for their offspring, so they indulge them with lots of pocket
money, scooters, motorcycles etc .I dont know what drugs look like or smell
like, but I am told that many of these kids are "pot heads" smoking
ganja or whatever, taking all kinds of illicit pills. Naturally they lose
their inhibitions and indulge in
sex. Parents will say - "No my child will never do such things". but are they
keeping tabs on their
children ? What is their future ?

I am old now. In my time we had to walk everywhere. Getting half an anna so I
could rent a
bicycle for half an hour to learn to cycle was a big deal. Parents could not
afford to give us even
half an anna (this about 8 paisa). We worked very hard to better ourselves
because we knew the
value of education and working hard to better ourselves. I dont know what the
future holds for these
wayward kids who seem to be increasing in numbers.
