EUGENE CORREIA The Congress party desperately needs a rainmaker to re-invent and reposition it for the next electoral battle. Imminent is the selection of a new president and the new in-charge for the state, Digvijay Singh, has issued a diktat that the incoming chief should be a Catholic. This effectively brings Subhash Shirodkar's term, which saw the Congress losing power in the 2012 election, to an end. During the last election it was amusing to see some key players, most of them ministers, pulling the party into different directions and, at times, crossing each other's paths. Vishwajeet Rane was the prime example of Super Boss who cared less for the party's image as he ramrodded the Congress to provide tickets to those within his embrace.
