The post graduates students of Goa Medical College have over the last few weeks been knocking the doors of the Bombay High Court at Goa and now the Supreme Court in their pursuit for Justice.
The government in a well orchestrated sudden U turn decided to scrap the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) list and opt for the Merit list by MBBS marks. The prime beneficiary of this move is Gaurav Mahesh Sardesai who is the brother of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s daughter-in-law. Gaurav had ranked 36th on the NEET list but is 2nd on the merit list now sought to be adopted by the Goa Government. The High handed move of the government has been challenged before the Supreme Court which has stayed the malafied move of the Goa Government. Gaurav’s father Dr Mahesh Sardesai is the Professor of Radiology at the Goa Medical College. He was due to retire in February 2014 but will now get another three years, thanks to the Goa government’s timely move to raise the retirement age of doctors from 62 to 65. We should not be surprised if Dr Mahesh Sardesai is groomed by the Chief Minister to be the next Dean of Goa Medical College. The Goa Government has already embarked on its vicious mission of divesting the current Dean Dr V.N.Jindal of his powers. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar seems to be going out of the way to secure the welfare of his family and coterie of friends. So if you want to be part of any family the Parrikar Parivar is the place to be. The Sangh Parivar being the second best option.
