Since past two days that I read about the sad news of the pasing away of
Melinda Powell Coutinho, I was not sure if it was the Melind Powell that I
met and knew from the many interactions of Goa Sudharop, and was, infact,
awaiting George Pinto to confirm the same. Now that he has done that, I do
not want to say much but that she was the nicest person, deft with her
organizing skills and forwardness. It is a pleasure to have met her and
interacted with her, however scant. I believe that Goa Sudharop will miss
her being around.
May her good soul rest in eternal peace.

We at Goa Sudharop mourn the passing of Melinda Powell at such a young
age. She was a volunteer with Goa Sudharop for a few years before leaving
for Ooty with her family. She coordinated workshops and activities with
Vidya Vikas and was the Mistress of Ceremonies at the Goa Sudharop award
functions at Hotel Mandovi. Always positive and upbeat, we were hopeful
she would be successful against the illness which eventually took her
life. All of us have fond memories of her, especially her grace and
elegance. Melinda reached out to others and was a good role model for
young women balancing the demands of family life and being a good citizen.
We remain in her debt for the time and efforts she expended on behalf of
Goa Sudharop in Goa.
Melinda has a wonderful family and we send our condolences at this
difficult time. May she rest in peace.
