Hello Rudy:

I have read your post with interest and I have a few questions.

I do not know anything about The Canadian Goan Christian Group (CGCG).

>From what I can see from the flyer there are these names.

Velda Abreu 905-568-9352 . . . . . current President of the G.O.A. Toronto
(http://www.goatoronto.com/about-us/committee/)
Selvin Concessio 416 735-5949
Gilbert D’Souza 905-626-7521
Eric De Souza 416-626-7743
Zulema de Souza 905-897-1408
Rudy Fernandes 905-238-9167
Patsy Fernandez 905-683-8124
Cellie Gonsalves 905-883-6115
Al Mathias 905-848-8999
Angela Menezes 905-271-1737 . . . . . current President of the Canorient
Association (http://canorienttoronto.com/committee/)
David Peters 416-568-1978
Dr. Colin Saldanha 905-890-8183

So here are my questions:

1. Who does the Canadian Goan Christian Group represent? Is it a formal body
represented by a governing committee?
2. What are the formal Aims and Objectives of this group? Is there a Mission
statement?
3. The "contributions from the "Goan clergy" in the GTA". Are we focussing on
"Goan" clergy alone? Flyer states otherwise.
4. Pilar does have missions outside India - England, USA, Germany, Italy, &
Nepal. If the CGCG sees an urgent need for Evangelization of Society in the
GTA, why not approach the Society of Pilar, Goa to open a mission here?
5. The money that is to be raised via ticket sales. How is that going to be
managed? How much is planned for the reception and how much for the Archdiocese
of Toronto? What is the Archdiocese going to do with this money? "CGCG will be
working in tandem with the Archdiocese of Toronto . . " Has a formal
relationship been set up between the CGCG and the Archdiocese? What will be the
focus?
6. The money to be donated to the Archdiocese of Toronto will be done in whose
name? The Goans of the GTA or this specific body called the CGCG?
6. “Evangelization of Society/Youth” - is there a special focus on youth from
the Indian sub-continent? If so where is this need manifested?
7. "CGCG plans to work closely with youth leaders. . ." Have these youth
leaders been identified? Who are they?

If there is a need to have a "Tribute to our Clergy", why is it not done via
the auspices of the G.O.A. Toronto & Canorient combined as they ostensibly
represent the Goan (read South Asian Catholic) diaspora in the GTA?

I am circulating this to other Goans also for their thoughts and input.

Regards

Tim de Mello
