With the massive casino M.V. Horseshoe having commenced functioning with the blessings of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, the awful side effects and the irreversible after effects will soon be there for all to see. The Casinos are known to provide other services besides gambling to its rich and mighty customers. The government should have taken remedial measures to arrest the alarming crime levels and the degradation in social standards that Goa is sadly witnessing today. One would have expected the Chief Minister to be sensible especially since a close family member has fallen victim after frequenting the Casinos. But he seems to have got all his priorities wrong. On all his U turns, less said the better.
We may recollect that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had publicly confessed on July 23rd to a delegation of the RTI forum that he had indeed along with Atmaram Nadkarni and others gone to ‘Walking Street’ in Pattaya. He however had told that delegation that he did not go there for sex but did only enjoy two Thai massages. Manohar Parrikar had further told that delegation that he did not have to go so far for sex. Was the Chief Minister implying that he has a lot of it at hand, closer to home? That four member Goa RTI forum delegation that had called on the Chief Minister at the Secretariat on July 23rd had comprised of Dr Dattaram Desai, Ganpat Kuttikar, Devidas Amonkar and Srikant Barve. The way Manohar Parrikar is steering Goa,with corruption, nepotism and maladministration being the order of the day, we may soon see what could have been India’s ideal state ending up as the filthiest place to be. A very heavy price to pay for having wrongly trusted Manohar Parrikar with the reins of our once beautiful Goa. He had promised to restore Goa’s glory but he seems to be going to disfigure it beyond recognition. Aires Rodrigues T1 - B30, Ribandar Retreat Ribandar - Goa - 403006 Mobile: 9822684372
