Dear Jose,

It gives me to no pleasure to be publicly critical of the Goan legal
profession. Some might write my opinion is not based on a scientific study or
based on anecdotal evidence. Whatever their excuses or denials, the opinions I
heard last week ranged from "lawyers are no different than politicians" to
"none of them are to be trusted, all crooks" to "do not expect them to do any
good for Goa they are only interested in themselves". Very sad, considering I
consider lawyers as officers of the court, meant to uphold the law and not
break it. In some countries they are leading social change and are a force for
justice, not subverting it like in Goa.  Fortunately, there are a few
exceptions.
