THE 9TH EAST
AFRICAN GOAN CONVENTION

Every EAGC I have attended has something different to offer and many things to
take with you. I must congratulate the entire team who were a part of this
great occasion in making it not only memorable but a successful one too. The
hospitality rendered to me was in a true Goan spirit which made me feel
homesick, be it Mr. Colin Carneiro , Mrs, Lily-Ann Fernandes , Mrs.Isabel
Desa or Mr. Edwin Rodrigues and others they are such a wonderful team and
very welcoming too .

>From the day 1 of the convention till the farewell day the entire program
>was well organized , food was great, cultural events were too good but most
>important the talent of the very young kids who are the future generations
>performed flawlessly , one has not only to admire but continue supporting
>these kids and also support the children to continue participating in such
>events after all it’s not only the twitter, facebook, whatsapp ,internet ,
>etc etc that teaches you educationally but curricular activities in any form
>also teaches you how to integrate with different people worldwide , so my
>request to all the Goan parents ,please support your children in every way and
>let them be a shining star not only for themselves but Goa at large.

What I have taken back with me, a very thoughtful , touching church service I
attended on Saturday with all other guests , the celebrant of the mass was Fr.
Saldanha (if I am not mistaken) , One is very lucky if he/she gets an
opportunity to attend a church service celebrated by a priest like Fr. Saldanha
, it was not only a delight to be part of this Holy Eucharistic celebration but
listening to his homily was beyond that , he explained every part of the
celebration which I never knew for so many years , he was full of smiles and
humor and got us engaged in the entire church service. The young kids who
danced during the offertory was very inspiring , the choir in Konkani and
English was very well sung and led by the Maestro Carneiro , music is a part of
life for Maestro Carnerio’s and his family .

Transportation , Security , Accommodation and other issues related to this
convention all well managed and organized . I would certainly like to thank
Tina and her transport team for such a great job managed and done all with a
smile.

I would like to add a few of my points , please don’t take this as a part of
criticism but an observation and I am sure we will do much better next time .

The cultural event had amazing talents from kids, young and old …Goans are
knows for these great talents and that makes us proud too . It would be worth
if the items were reduced , I know every parent wants their kids to perform and
do well for such a grand occasion and we ought to respect that but at the same
time we need to balance the issue on how to keep these parents happy and how
can the cultural evening items be streamlined to the maximum in the interest of
time so that people do not get bored and leave half way .

Just an observation again on the same note of the cultural evening , the snacks
could have been served when guests were entering the hall and during
interval time the dinner could be served .

I would also urge the Goan Youth of Nairobi to come forward and engage
yourselves by sharing your ideas and being a part the Goan Institute and Goan
Gymkhana in many activities , you all are blessed with talent so make the most
of it and learn from the existing Pioneers of these esteemed clubs . Always be
united that’s the only way to achieve success in life , differences are going
to be there and it is normal the beauty is how we can managed and handle these
differences and yet make a successful and a positive impact on what we do .

The Dinner Dance ball was full of fun and dance , food , drinks etc etc
superb!, Recognizing the Presidents of the club for each region and vice versa
is a well thought idea . Andre and Tanya all the way from Goa , the African
Band and the DJ kept the guests dancing on their toes till early morning .

I may not have touched upon each and every issue of this event but overall it
is an event to be remembered in a very positive way.

Once again I congratulate Mr. Colin Carneiro a very dynamic person, his family
and his entire team for working tirelessly in making this convention a grand
success , may the Good Lord continue to bless all of you in every way. Keep up
the good work it never goes unoticed.

I enjoyed the venues of these occassions The Goan Gymkhana and the Goan
Institute and i thank the management for having it well organized .

Last but not the least through this convention I met lots of new faces and made
new friends that is the beauty of such conventions .

God willing see you all again before the Zanzibar convention and let's keep in
contact .

Viva Nairobi Viva Goa.

Regards
